Villa Park
Birmingham, United Kingdom · matchday guide
Villa Park is one of English football's grand old grounds, all red brick and history, and the Holte End in full voice is a proper sight. Here is how to do a matchday at Villa Park in B6.
Getting there
Villa Park sits in Aston, a couple of miles north of Birmingham city centre. Witton and Aston stations are both a short walk from the ground, a few minutes on the train from Birmingham New Street. Plenty of fans walk up from the city in around 35 minutes, or take a bus along the Lichfield Road. Matchday parking around the ground is limited and residents-permit, so the train is the easy option.
The away end
Away supporters are housed in the Doug Ellis Stand, along the side of the pitch, with the allocation in the lower tier. The Holte End behind one goal is the loud end, so expect plenty of noise from the home crowd. Arrive early for the searches.
Around the ground
The streets around Villa Park have the old-ground feel: chip shops, programme sellers and a walk past the famous Holte End facade. The club has been at this ground since 1897, and it shows in the architecture. A cracking one to tick off if you are collecting grounds.
