Turf Moor
Burnley, United Kingdom · matchday guide
Turf Moor is a tight, traditional town-centre ground with the cricket club right next door, and Burnley in full voice make it a proper Lancashire away day. Here is how to do a matchday in Burnley.
Getting there
Turf Moor sits close to the town centre, around a 15 to 20 minute walk from either Burnley Manchester Road or Burnley Central station, with Manchester Road marginally closer. It is less than two miles from the M65, and there are town-centre car parks along with parking at the adjacent cricket club. Rail or a park-and-walk both work well given the central setting.
The away end
Away supporters are housed in the Cricket Field Stand at the east end, named for the cricket ground next door, with an allocation of around 2,400. You may see it under sponsor names, but it is the same east-end stand behind one goal. It is a tight, intense ground, so it is a lively away day. Arrive in good time for the searches.
Around the ground
Burnley Cricket Club sits directly next to the ground and often opens to away fans, with cheaper drinks and a friendly welcome, while the Turf pub opposite is a historic matchday spot. The Jimmy McIlroy statue stands by his namesake stand. A traditional, close-quarters ground that is a cracking one to tick off.
