The Racecourse Ground, now the STōK Cae Ras, is the oldest international football stadium still in use, and the Wrexham story has turned matchday here into one of the hottest tickets in the game. Here is how to do a matchday in Wrexham.

Getting there

The ground could hardly be easier to reach: Wrexham General station sits right alongside it, under a 10 minute walk from platform to turnstile. From the station you head onto Mold Road, with the away turnstiles reached via Crispin Lane. The rail access is excellent, so the train is the obvious way in.

The away end

Away supporters are generally housed in the Wrexham Lager Stand on the Mold Road side of the ground, with an allocation of around 1,500. Note the Racecourse is mid-redevelopment, so the exact away positioning can shift by fixture and season: check your club's latest travel guidance before you travel. It is a tight, noisy ground with home and away fans close together.

Around the ground

The atmosphere is driven from the University end, and the whole place has been full and loud through the club's remarkable rise. The Turf, right by the ground, is the oldest football-ground pub in the world but fills with home fans, so away supporters tend to head for the Queen Street and High Street pubs in town. A genuinely special one to tick off.
