Etihad Stadium
Manchester, United Kingdom · matchday guide
The Etihad has grown into one of the Premier League's loudest modern grounds, and a big European night in east Manchester has an edge all of its own. Here is how to do a matchday at the Etihad.
Getting there
The Etihad sits a mile or so east of Manchester city centre on the Etihad Campus. The Metrolink tram runs straight there: the Etihad Campus stop on the East Manchester line drops you at the door. From Piccadilly it is a 20 to 25 minute walk, or a short tram hop. Matchday parking is permit-controlled around the ground, so the tram or a park-and-walk from the edge of town is the sensible option.
The away end
Away fans go in the South Stand, behind the goal, with the allocation in the lower tier. Sightlines are good and you are close to the pitch. Turn up in good time; the campus approach funnels everyone toward the same few entrances.
Around the ground
The campus around the stadium is open and modern, with food and drink stalls on matchdays and the club shop by the main entrance. It is a different feel to the old terraced-street grounds: more space, less squeeze. If you are collecting grounds, the Etihad is an easy, well-connected one to tick off.
