Craven Cottage
London, United Kingdom · matchday guide
Craven Cottage is one of the most characterful grounds in the country, sitting right on the Thames with the old Cottage in the corner. Here is how to do a matchday in SW6.
Getting there
Craven Cottage sits by the river in Fulham, west London. Putney Bridge on the District line is the nearest Tube, a 10 to 15 minute walk through Bishops Park along the Thames, which is one of the nicer walks to a football ground anywhere. Hammersmith is a slightly longer walk. There is no matchday parking to speak of, so the Tube and the riverside stroll is the way in.
The away end
Away supporters are housed in the Putney End, behind the goal. With the recent Riverside Stand redevelopment the ground has changed, but the Cottage corner and the river setting keep the character. Give yourself time for the walk from Putney Bridge.
Around the ground
The approach through Bishops Park along the Thames is a big part of the Craven Cottage experience, and the listed Cottage pavilion in the corner is unlike anything else in the league. A short walk from the pubs of Fulham and Putney. One of the grounds every groundhopper wants on their list.
