Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom · matchday guide
The bet365 Stadium sits up on the hill at Trentham Lakes, and when the wind comes in and Stoke get going it is one of the more testing away days in the division. Here is how to do a matchday in Stoke-on-Trent.
Getting there
The ground sits a couple of miles south of the city on a hilltop, and there is no walkable route from the station. Stoke-on-Trent station is on the main London to Manchester line, and from there the number 14 bus runs to the ground in around 10 minutes, or you can grab a taxi from the rank. Bring layers: the stadium is famously cold and windy.
The away end
Away supporters are housed in the Marston's Pedigree Stand, behind one goal at the south end. The home crowd in the Boothen End is the vocal one, so expect plenty of noise coming back at you. Arrive in good time; it is an out-of-town approach that funnels everyone the same way.
Around the ground
The walk in along Sir Stanley Matthews Way passes the statue of the great man, worth a photo before kickoff. It is an out-of-town retail and hotel setting rather than terraced streets, so many fans drink at the ground. A proper Potteries away day to tick off.
